Bible Study for Ministry, Christian Women, and The Pastor's Wife ~ I Am Christmas Emotive, Part 312/25/2014 Bible Study for Ministry, Christian Women, and The Pastor's Wife ~ I Am Christmas Emotive, Part 3
Psalms 71:1 "In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion." Take a look at the picture. Who's confused – the butterfly not knowing he has landed on someone who would eat him or the frog confused by his snack delivering himself? Talk about instant carry-out and room service, there it is! One or both should be anxious and flustered. That brings us to the Christmas emotive of anxiety. The way out is with confidence and peace. "But how do I get there - to the place of confidence and peace?" Great question. Over the years folks have tried all sorts of things. The fact that the "how-to" articles claiming one permanent fix after another keep showing up in the same magazines at the checkout stands at the stores tell me a couple of things: 1. Folks are continuously searching for "the" solution so they buy the magazines (which makes the store happy and the publishers happy) 2.The "permanent" solution is much like a perm applied to curl or straighten your hair - which, by the way needs to be redone in about three or so months. So much for "fixing" the anxiety! Before we go to a better solution, actually it's better because it comes from God, let's go to another Christmas emotive: flustered. The opposite is being in the present time. Today is Christmas Day. Yesterday was possibly even a Christmas emotive more so of the dastardly duos of anxiety and being flustered. It was for me as I was finalizing (I thought!!! More to be done Friday and Monday - ever been to a bank that had no hundreds and had to count out a huge stack of twenties?) a move before the first of the year, the tradition of several years of chili, beans, and rice on Christmas eve with the grand kids, opening presents, and attending a Christmas Eve candlelight service (My church did not have one, so I went to the closest church, alone. They had a 5 pm service, the kids were coming at 6:30...and oh, my, my, my!). As it turns out, the solution for anxiety and being flustered can be found together at the same time and place. I find I have to go there often. But it is a loving and pleasant place. Matthew 11:29-30 "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." In order to do that, I have to be still and be present in His presence. Anxiety goes and calmness comes. Being flustered gives way to peace. And, it's never a one time visit for me! But that is THE starting place! A real great place you can choose to go. Oh yes, it is a choice and you get to make it! And, you can chose His burden or any other burden. So, go. Even if you only have a couple of minutes. Go. And go now. Be blessed in The Name above every name, Jesus! I know I am!
