Games for You and Yours - Twisty Tongue Twisters Instead of TV Mom, with two daughters, ages “almost 6” and 8 sit down at the table with company, and older grandmother (but not their grandmother) “I have a new game,” she said. “Would anyone like to play it?” The grandmother asked. “I would!” Both girls said at the same time. “Okay,” the mother said as the “almost six-year-old” scooted to her mother's lap. “How do we play it?” “What's it called?” “Can I go first?” The questions came very quickly and the grandmother answered. “It's called Twisty Tongue Twisters. You shuffle the cards and then pick one. Read it out loud and finish the sentence using the same letters. And…” “And what?” the mom asked. " And as you add a word to it you have to say what everybody else said first,” the grandmother finished. “Okay," mom shuffled the cards. The eight-year-old drew one and read it out loud. She quickly thought of a word and added it.The four went through all the cards and made silly sentences, trying to remember what each other said, and laughing out loud together. “Wow! That was fun!” The eight-year-old said, yawning. “I like doing it all together,” said the “almost six year old,” “and talking to each other.”
Apparently no one missed watching TV or fiddling with electronic gadgets that evening. |
