Fundraising for Church Groups and Christian Schools

Welcome to my blog: Fundraising for Church Groups and Christian Schools. The very first thing that I'm going to do is point you to Jesus. Let me do that by telling you a short story. Everything you do in your church, your church group, and your Christian School should revolve around Jesus, including your fundraising.
Before I tell you that little story let me explain who I am. I have been a Christian School administrator, a pastor's wife and when he was the youth director before he was a pastor, I was the youth directors wife and active in the youth department. I've been head of children's church. Through a number of years of my journey there's a lot of other things that I've done including camp counselor, and part of  the program for camp, and main speaker for a number of ladies’ retreats in a number of states.
I've been around what works and what doesn’t work. I have found it is always best to center everything around Jesus.
Last week, I had great niece, niece, and my sister up from Houston Texas, to the Midwest here in Missouri. I took them sightseeing and one of the places was the Trail of Tears State Park down by the Mississippi River. There's an overlook at the very far end of the park.
Across the river, if you look in a certain spot, you see a very, very tiny cross. The cross is actually in Illinois at Alto Pass. It's called the Bald Knob Cross. You can put your fingers up to it and it would be the size of a very small postage stamp - basically, it would  easily fit on a postage stamp with lots of room left over.
I asked my little six-year-old great-niece “Why?” and she replied “because we're a long way from it. When we get closer to it it's going to be really big.”
Her theology is just spot-on! She hit the very center of the bull's-eye!
Indeed, we went across the river to the Bald Knob Cross. www.baldknobcross.com
As we journeyed, we could see it through the mountain range (or hills - ) you could actually see that it was getting bigger and bigger and bigger. As I knew, (I had been there several times before) when we got there it was very big. My niece was very much impressed and actually lay down on her back at the base and took a picture of the cross.
Inside the welcome center and gift shop, there is an observation deck you could actually see about the area where I live and it’s over 50 miles away. They also have pennies with the cross cutout inside them.

If you take that penny and put it up towards your eye and you look at everything through the lens of that cross it helps you focus on the things that are really important and forget about the things that are not so important but seem to take up all your time and energy. As you begin or continue your fundraising journey I would challenge you to start off that important fundraising journey looking through the perspective of the lens of the cross.
Know that the further you are away from Jesus Christ, the smaller He is. The closer you are to Him the bigger He is. In reality, He doesn't change. It's just your distance that changes your perspective and no, the cross at Bald Knob is not Jesus Christ! I do not worship it but it does represent my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and I really want to see and do things through the lens of The Cross!

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways," saith the LORD.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9

Let us pray: “Lord, I ask you to open the eyes of every church leader, youth leader, camp leader, Christrin School leader, ladies’s leader and anyone else doing a fundraiser for a church group or Christian School whose eyes are reading this, that they may see their assignment and journey through the lens of The Cross - and see things from Jesus’ eyes from the cross He died on. In Jesus’ Precious Name, That Name above all others, Amen.”
