Potato Bar Fundraiser

This last Sunday was Saint Patrick's Day. Here is the card stock flyer that I was handed by someone at a ministry over in Illinois. What a great idea for a fundraiser! Having a potato bar with all the trimmings - that pulled pork, ground beef, cheese, chives, sour cream, bacon bits and no doubt this and that and other things that could go on a potato bar.
It was a wonderful place to eat. You got this huge potato and your choice of  what you wanted on it.                 I don't know if they got this great fundraising idea from there or not, but  just because it was Saint Patrick's Day and the history behind the potatoes saving the lives of the Irish people.                                                                          One little criticism here of this. I like the flyer except that it does not say the name of their ministry or where it's located.                                                                                           Regardless of what fundraiser you use be sure to tell them what ministry the fundraisers is for and where it's going to be.                                                                                          I asked somebody "in the know" from this ministry three questions yesterday, the first day of Spring.

# 1 What was the goal for the air conditioning fund?  $10,000.

# 2 How many people were at the potato bar?          about a hundred
# 3 How much did you make net?                                          $1,008  - there were no expenses - everything was donated
I don't know how much they have actually earned from everything they're trying to do, but I know this: spring came yesterday and summer is not too far behind. They really do need air conditioning in this old school building they purchased back in December.
A potato bar fundraiser doesn't have to be on St Patrick's Day. It doesn't even have to be close to Saint Patrick’s day! Getting folks to donate and then have the fellowship and everybody doing what they did is a really good way to raise funds and actually obey the Bible!.
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together…”  Hebrews 10:25. They were together and they had a good time of fellowship and laughter.
Donating the items is definitely Biblical as well. “For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.” 2 Corinthians 8:12.
Let us pray: “Father, thank You that Your Word includes fellowshipping one with another. Lord what joy and what fun and how fulfilling and satisfying that can be as we reach out and love each other and meet each other's needs. Father, thank You that You only asked what we have, not what we don't have, whether it’s a sack of potatoes, block of cheese, or barbecue pit or smoker and and pork or beef or whatever! Thank You for asking us to give what You have given us. Lord I ask that you bless each leader reading this and their fundraising as You guide them as to which fundraisers to do and which not to do that there may be peace and joy and fellowship among their ministry. In Jesus precious Name. Amen.
Blessings!
Linda
