Bible Study: Christian Women & Pastors Wives, I am His Sheep, Part 2
FOLLOWING GOD’S LEADING THOUSANDS of years ago, the promise was given to those who loved God that they should be directed day by day in such a way that their lives would be useful and happy. The promise was very specific. “And thou shalt hear a voice behind thee saying, This is the way, Walk ye in it, when thou turnest to the right hand or when thou turnest to the left.” Isaiah 30:21 Of course there were those who did not believe the promise; they tried to guide themselves. But there were many who did believe; every day they gave themselves up to God for His guidance, so that they were able to make their own the language of the Psalm,“ The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not Want. He leadeth me beside the still waters. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake.” Psalms 23. To them the promise was given by Jesus that He would send His Spirit into their hearts, that He might guide them into all truth. How is the promise fulfilled? This is a mystery to those who will not give themselves up to God‘s guidance; but to those who do yield themselves it becomes very plain that God guides those who put themselves in His Hands and seek to cooperate with Him by doing the very best they can for themselves.
