Bible Study: Christian Women & Pastors Wives - I Am Not My Own, Part 1
When my youngest son was in the military and shipped overseas, he gave me power of attorney over his possessions. I could have done whatever I wished with his paycheck and his personal possessions. But, I understood and knew for certain that that money was his. His goods were his. I was just the caregiver. When he returned, he found all of his bills paid off, money growing with a very small (but safe) amount of interest in the bank, and all his goods exactly as he left them. He liked how I did it so well that after he got married (to a wonderful gal in the military) he again granted me power of attorney and so did she when they deployed overseas. God has given me power of attorney over my body, my talents, my time, my possessions, my everything. Just like my son's possessions were not mine, I am not my own, either! I am only the temporary caregiver. 1 Corinthians 6:19 "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." Am I doing a good job of care giving for something that does not belong to me? Am I as careful as I was with my son's and his wife's goods? I was not a "freebie." I was not an end-of-the-yard-sale discounted item. The price of an expensive piece of property, or a fancy car, or jet pales in comparison to my price tag. Be blessed in The Name above every name, Jesus! I know I am! Linda Culbreth
