Bible Study for Christian Women and Pastors Wives ~ I Am Able to Hear, Part 2 - In order to hear, you have to have understanding of what is being said.
My native language is Texan. Actually, southeast Texan. In short, I speak fluent "fixin', ya'll, coke (means any kind of soda), etc. Others that do not understand my drawl may have a little bit of a time figuring out exactly what I mean. I have noticed that I may have as difficult of a time understanding them as well! Most industries have their own jargon only understood by those who speak fluently that particular industry. For example, a piano turner should know exactly what a regultion, a wippen, or a backcheck means. Word to the wise -if they don't then get a different piano tuner! A lawyer may use such terms as a fortiori argument, a posteriori, or a mensa et toro. Huh? (Don't ask me, I'm not a lawyer!) When it comes to hearing The Word of The Lord, I believe we need to ask for understanding. We need to ask for our ears to be opened and for the abilty to receive them in our heart. I will be meditating on the following verses today: Ezekiel 3:10 "Moreover He said unto me, Son of man, all My words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears." (emphasis is mine) Psalm 40:6 "Sacrifice and offering Thou didst not desire; mine ears hast Thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast Thou not required." Mark 4:33 "And with many such parables spake He (Jesus) the word unto them, as they were able to hear it." Job 4:12 "Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof." Job 13:1 "Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it." Prayer: "Lord, remove any spiritual earwax and allow me to not only hear Your Word, but to understand it and receive it into my heart. In Jesus' Name, Amen." Be blessed in The Name above every name, Jesus! I know I am! Linda L. Culbreth
