Bible Study for Christian Women and Pastors Wives ~I Am Certain God Hears Me ~ Part 1
Psalm 31:2 "Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me." Psalms 86:1 "Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy." Years ago, I remember either reading a story or hearing a story about a certain Bible translator. He lived among the people of the language he was translating. When he came to the phrase "bow down thine ear," he was stuck. Totally stuck. One day, he saw a small child have his father bend down so he could whishper in his ear. The translator immediately asked someone what they called that. "The child is tickling the father's ear," was the reply. The translator knew he was unstuck! It's very common to see small children whisper in a parent's ear. Most of the time, the words whispered really are quite, well - the word that comes to mind is - "childish"! It's just as common for that parent to smile and nod their understanding. What is important here is that the child feels free to whisper things that are important to her whenever she wants to and wherever she is to a loving parent. In reality, the native child commanded the parent to bend down. In both of these verses, we are doing the same! Because God put those verses in the Bible, I know He wants to hear all my secrets, not just the really big ones. Even the ones that are, well, "childish." After all, He is my Abba, Daddy. Be blessed in The Name above every name, Jesus! I know I am! Linda L. Culbreth
