Bible Study for Christian Women and Pastors Wives ~ I Am Certain God Hears Me, Part 2
Genesis 3:8-9 "And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. 9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, "Where art thou?'" The very first question God asked man was "Where art you?" God, being Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Omniscient knew what had happened and He knew where Adam and Eve were. He just wanted Adam to understand what treason he had actually committed. My husband made this comment earlier today: "Adam broke God's heart." I am certain God hears me because He desired to fellowship in the Garden of Eden with the first man and woman. He continues to enjoy fellowship with me and you. He wants to hear from me. He wants to hear from you. He still desires and longs for fellowship. 1 John 1:3 "That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ." The online Merriam-Webster dictionary tells us the following: "fellowship is a noun and it means a friendly relationship among people, the relationship of people who share interests or feelings, a group of people who have similar interests, companionship, company, community of interest, activity, feeling, or experience, the state of being a fellow or associate, a company of equals or friends, association, the quality or state of being comradely." Fellowship is a two-way street. If I fellowship with you, then you must be fellowshipping with me at the same time. I listen you. You listen to me. We listen back and forth to each other. I don't see the connotation of being dark, gloomy, "down-in-the-dumps, or even a task or chore or "trip to the principal's office or the boss' office for a royal chewing out! I experience fellowshipping with God as very pleasurable and fun. And...it is something He desires and initiates. But, He leaves the realization and fulfillment totally up to me. I can spend time in fellowship with Him. Or, sadly, not. Yes, I am absolutely certain God hears me! Be blessed in The Name above every name, Jesus! I know I am! Linda L. Culbreth
