Bible Study for Christian Women and Pastors Wives - I Am His Branch, Part 3
John 15: 1- 6 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit He taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me. 5 I am the Vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing. 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned." We are referred to as a branch. I am certainly no botanists, but just a country girl. When I watched my daddy or my granddaddy trim branches off the trees, or when I’ve trimmed branches off the trees, or when storms have ripped branches off the trees, I know for certain the leaves dry up and turn brown on that branch. There is no more fruit ever on that branch. Because of that fact, the enemy knows if he can kill, steal, and destroy my indwelling in Jesus, my abiding in Him, he can destroy my leaves and fruit. Oh, I am still a branch, but not a productive one and one that cannot live for very long. Perhaps that is why we are warned in John 10:10. "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." Be blessed in The Name Above Every Name, Jesus! I know I am! Linda L Culbreth
