Bible Study for Christian Women and Pastors Wives - I Am His Righteousness, Part 1
In Texas, sometimes swapping one thing for another is called "horse trading." My grandfather never owned a horse, probably never rode one, but he was the best "horse trader"I ever knew! Before he retired, he worked at reed Roller Bit, a manufacturer for the oil field industry. He was an inspector and had worked there for years. All the guys in his area knew him, liked him, and called him "Pappy." Pappy was known for his ever present, very sharp pocket knife. If I remember correctly, he carried his "good" one in one front pocket and his "trading" one in the other front pocket of his pants. It was a game to him to swap knives, sight unseen, with the other guys. Even when they could come up with a really junky, broken pocket knife, he usually ended up with a better knife than he started with in the end. Whatever awful knife he ended up with, he knew he would be swapping it away soon. Please do not be offended at the following statement - hear my heart on the matter! Jesus Christ was and is the best "horse trader" in the world! He takes the person broken by sin and shame and swaps that sin and shame for His Own Righteousness! He doesn't care how bad that person is or, even how good that person is. The only way to Heaven is by His Righteousness, His Precious Blood shed on the cross, not by our works or anything else. The only requirement is to accept Him, Jesus Christ, as Savior. God The Father didn't go into the swap sight unseen. Neither did Jesus Christ. They knew exactly what They were doing! 2 Corinthians 5:21 gives us the details. "For He (God The Father) hath made Him (Jesus Christ) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. (Jesus Christ)" Be blessed in The Name above every name, Jesus! I know I am! Linda L Culbreth
