Bible Study for Christian Women and Pastors Wives - I Am The Salt -2
If something is salted, then that means the salt was sprinkled over all of it like salting a cut of meat before cooking it. If it is salted with fire, then fire is sprinkled over all of it. Fire is also a cleansing agent. It removes debris and other things we may not even realize are there. In Mark 9:49, we are told by Jesus that we will be salted with fire. There is no doubt that that fire hurts. This morning there was a message from someone who is a pastor's wife. She had been to a retreat and apparently some of the ladies of influence in her church are not only doing things to her that hurt but also influencing others to do likewise. She closes her message with these words that cause my heart to ache: "I honestly am feeling hurt and wanting to protect myself from them, but I do not want the ministry to be hurt. My God has been sooooooo good to me! Thank you for being an ear for me!" I prayed for her and sent her what I prayed: "Lord, I lift my sister up to You in this season of hurt and pain. Lord let her know Your arms are wrapped so gently and carefully about her. Father, is this the season in her life that You mention in Mark 9:49, "For everyone shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt?" Let her hear Your Voice and Your leading. In Jesus' Name, amen." I wanted to remind her of the three Hebrew children thrown like garbage into a fiery furnace heated seven times hotter than normal. The story is over in Daniel 3. But, what happened? Daniel 3:25 tells us "He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God." We never walk through the fires alone. Never. Then, let's continue with Daniel 3:27. "And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them." I simply must include this beautiful promise from God, Himself. Isaiah 43:1-2 "But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. 2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." Be blessed in The Name above every name, Jesus! I know I am! Linda L Culbreth
