        Now, it is David's turn to ask the wise women from Tekoab a question. 2 Samuel 14:19-20 (AMP) "The king said, Is the hand of Joab with you in all this? And the woman answered, As your soul lives, my lord the king, none can turn to the right hand or to the left from anything my lord the king has said. It was your servant Joab who directed me; he put all these words in my mouth. In order to change the course of matters 
[between Absalom and his father] your servant Joab did this. But my lord has wisdom like the wisdom of the angel of God—to know all things that are on the earth."
       The first eight words of verse twenty tug at my heart strings: "In order to change the course of matters."
      A definition of insanity is to continue doing the same things and expecting different results. When I talk with people and they indicate they need some changes in their lives, often they are not willing to do anything different.
     For example, they need an answer from God just as this woman needed an answer from the king. She was willing to go before the king; unfortunately, many are not willing to pray and go before The King of kings. They need to know The King's answer, but are not willing to turn the TV off and be still and know God. They may be lonely, but refuse to 
participate in the opportunities available at their church like small groups, classes, and ministries such as nursing home ministries, hospital ministries, children's ministries, etc.
     God is not a magic genie, you don't just "rub" Him a certain way and get your wish granted. And, the change in course may not be exactly what you had in mind, but be assured it is what God had in mind and you can trust Him.
     Now, about the "praying" part...
