Bible Study for Ministry, Christian Women, and The Pastor's Wife ~ I Am Fighting to Renew My Mind, Part 2 Have you ever been around someone you were afraid of? I mean really afraid of? There is a story found in Mark, chapter 5, that describes such a person. We will pick up his story beginning with verses 1-5. "And they (Jesus and His disciples) came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when He was come out of the ship, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones." When I was part of a prison ministry in Texas, I went in places where it took several guards to fetter a screaming woman and get her thirty feet or less down a hall to shower her. She was never given any food requiring any utensils. Her consisted of something such as a hot dog wrapped in a paper towel because she would break plastic silverware and cut and stab herself and the guards. There was nothing but a bed, a toilet, and a sink in her room because she was so violent. She had just thrown feces at the guards and would often spit on them and curse them in language that would make a sailor blush." Actually, they allowed me to tell her about Jesus just outside her cell before shower time. She had covered with the feces she had not thrown. I was actually telling her about this man's story and she had started to listen. When I mentioned The Name of Jesus, she begin to calm down. Unfortunately, the guards seized that moment of calmness to unlock her door electronically and storm in to fetter her feet and handcuff her. Immediately, she became incredibly violent thinking I had tricked her. I had not, but the guards had tricked me. To be continued... Be blessed in The Name above every name. Jesus! I know I am!
