Bible Study for Ministry, Christian Women, and The Pastor's Wife ~ I Am Fighting to Renew My Mind, Part 5 While praying about today's post, I realized my fighting to renew my mind involves several steps to renew it. This is not a "x number of steps to renewing your mind article." But it might be close. When do I need to renew my mind? Anytime my focus is off of Jesus Christ and what all He has done for me. How does my focus get off of Jesus Christ? By my thoughts, my reactions to those around (especially those who seem to be heavenly sandpaper in my life!), by what I read or see or hear, and no doubt by other means. What do I need to remember? That my battle never is with others, even if it sure sounds and feels like it. Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." What else do I need to remember? Matthew 5:11-12 "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." "God, You mean You want me to rejoice when others...?" And what am I instructed to do in return? Matthew 5:44 "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." and Luke 6:28 "Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you." "Lord, You mean You want me to bless them, do good to them, pray for them?" Now, how am I going to do that? It begins in my "Me & God Time." He says to come into His presencea certain way. Psalms 100:4 "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name." In 1922, a hymn written Helen H. Lemmons was printed. Here's the first verse and the chorus (refrain): "O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There’s a light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free! Refrain Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace." Be blessed in The Name above every name.
