Bible Study for Ministry, Christian Women, and The Pastor's Wife ~ I Am Glad, Part 3
Psalms 9:1-2. "(To the chief Musician upon Muthlabben, A Psalm of David.) I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High." In these two verses taken from the KJV, I count four times David said "I will". It's as if he made a very deliberate, conscious decision to do these things. While commentators can't seem to agree on the exact historical reason for David writing this particular Psalm, they seem to agree that it shows God's character and His great love for His own. I am so thankful that John 3:15-16 includes me in the "whosoever"! "That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." As one of His "whosoevers," I, too, have the choice to make that David made. I can praise Him with my whole heart. Not part of it. Not a small section. But all of it! Have you ever had this experience? You are worshiping God (and, no, I do not mean corporate worship with songs at a church service, whether its acappella, or with music, whether loud or soft, or slow or fast) and thoughts jump in your mind like "how dare so-and-so do what they did?" or the phone rings or you realize you need to be_____(fill in the blank). One of the devices of the enemy is "to kill, steal, and destroy" (John 10:10) you and your worship of God. The devil and his imps your worship of God to turned and placed anywhere besides God. But, God! But God has told us that we are not ignorant of the devil's devices. 2 Corinthians 2:11 "Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices." But God clearly and lovingly wants us to diligently seek Him with our whole hearts. Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." An Old Testament verse fits right in with "But God." Deuteronomy 30:6 "And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live." Today, I make a very deliberate, conscious decision to do praise God with my whole heart! I will need to make that decision more than once. Be blessed in The Name above every name, Jesus! I know I am! Linda L Culbreth
