Bible Study for Ministry, Christian Women, and The Pastor's Wife ~ I Am Glad, Part 6 Psalms 9:1-2. "(To the chief Musician upon Muthlabben, A Psalm of David.) I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High." "I will shew forth all thy marvellous works." Some other versions may say things like "I will tell of all Your wonders." The Amplified Version puts it this way: "I will show forth (recount and tell aloud) all Your marvelous works and wonderful deeds!" That brings up some questions. Very real questions. Do we even count all His wonders, much less recount them? Do we tell them to ourselves and others? Or we silent, even to ourselves? I don't understand how we truly are put together by our Creator, God. Many people who have studied much think they do - as least to a certain extent. But most of those learned people will agree that what we speak to ourselves matters more than we could even dream that it does. What if we spent our time talking to ourselves (either out loud or internally) counting and recounting God's marvelous works and seeing them in the eyes of our hearts? Opps - did we just skip over a very important word in that verse? Yes, the word "all". I have heard it said that "all means all and that's all that all means." Let's see what Webster's New World Thesaurus (paperback, 1974) gives us for other words we could use instead of "all." all, adverb. 1. [Completely] totally, wholly, entirely; see completely 2. [Each] every, any, each and every, any and every, every member of‘, for everybody or anybody or anyone or anything or everything, barring no one, bar none. beginning and end, from A to Z. all, noun. everything, everyone, every person, sum, collection, group. ensemble,- total, totality, quantity, unit, entity, whole kit and caboodle; lock, stock and barrel, the works. in all, all told, collectively, on the whole. I am certain that showing forth all His marvelous works and wonderful deeds instead of other things we tell ourselves and others would certainly be conductive to being glad!
