Bible Study for Ministry, Christian Women, and The Pastor's Wife ~ I Am Included, Part 3 He was the grandson of the king, son of a prince. Others wanted to kill him and all the other princes. On top of that,he was just a little boy with a nursemaid. In her dash to safety, she dropped him and greatly injured one of his feet. 2 Samuel 4:4 "And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth." Unfortunately, it never did heal and he was lame for the remainder of his life. He grew up not included in his family. Not included in the palace. Then, one day, (Don't you just love "then, one day"?) the current king remembered his love and his covenant he had made years earlier with the lame boy's father. Is the story beginning to sound a little familiar? Yes, the current King is David, and years earlier, he and Jonathan made a covenant with each other. They loved each other in a Godly way and Jonathan knew God has replaced his father, King Saul, with David, his friend as king. And, Jonathan was fine with God's selection and did nothing to rebel against it. 1 Samuel 18:1,3 "And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul." But others did and tried very hard to kill all of Saul's family, including Jonathan's family. But this one, little lame guy lived as an outcast, grew up, married, and had a family of his own. Then, one day... Be blessed in The Name above every name, Jesus! I know I am!
