Bible Study for Ministry, Christian Women, and The Pastor's Wife ~ I Am Included, Part 4 Mephibosheth escaped death when he was five but not lameness. He lived for years under the radar in a rather out-of-the way place called Lodebar. No doubt his feet hurt. No doubt that the constant reminder of his lameness was a constant reminder that there were many people in high places that wanted him and his dead. Then, one day. Yes, it happened. Then, one day a horsemen, maybe even a band of horsemen showed up on very fancy horses. They had a summons for Mephibosheth and his family to show up at the palace that belonged to King David AND, actually in his court in his presence. Fear gripped him. In the back of his mind he knew that "one day" was a real possibility and now it happened. But, Mephibosheth had no way of knowing King David's intentions. He had no way of knowing the covenant between his dad and the king. After all, he was only five when his grandfather, King Saul, and his dad, Jonathan, were killed in a battle. He had no way of knowing that King David tracked down a former servant of King Saul in his quest of finding anyone alive in Saul's family, especially in Jonathan's side of the family. 2 Samuel 9:1 "And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake?" Mephibosheth was trembling at the summons fearing the “could'ves, would'ves, should'ves,” the endless possibilities. Perhaps the horsemen only had the message, "Bring Mephibosheth and all of his family to King David immediately." Maybe they were clueless as to the real reason for the summons. Like it or not, afraid or not, Mephibosheth was included in the palace of the king, and immediately. Be blessed in The Name above every name, Jesus! I know I am!
