Bible Study for Ministry, Christian Women, and The Pastor's Wife ~ I Am Included, Part 5 The Bible is unclear as to the journey from Lodebar back to the king's palace. Did Mephibosheth and his family have a lot of packing to do? Did they tremble in fear every inch of the way? We are not even told how long it took. Did the gossip grapevine go crazy busy as the word spread throughout Lodebar that Mephibosheth and his family had been taken away by the king's secret service men? Or, did anyone really care? While we could speculate on the myriad of possibilities, it is enough to realize Mephibosheth and his family were real people with real emotions, aches, and pains, just like you and me. 2 Samuel 9 tells us what happened at the palace before the king: verse 6 "Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant!" Mephibosheth, once in the presence of the king gave him reverence and acknowledged his kingship. From the next verse, verse 7, we can sense the sensitivity of the king. He knew that Mephibosheth was terrified. Maybe he was trembling. Maybe the king had seen others in fear before him so many times that he just knew that Mephibosheth's mind was racing at warp speed. Verse 7. "And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually."
