Bible Study for Ministry Women, Christian Women, and The Pastor's Wife - I Am The Salt – 89/24/2014 Bible Study for Ministry Women, Christian Women, and The Pastor's Wife - I Am The Salt – 8
Our key verse today is Mark 9:50. Here, we find two commands: "Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another." Never do we find a command that God fails to provide the accompanying ability to fulfill that command. Let's look at the first command:"Have salt in yourselves." The picture of the rock above shows salt on it. I wonder if it is in it as well? We cannot accomplished having salt in us without spending time in The Bible; spending time meditating on those verses; spending time communicating with God; and spending time worshiping and praising God, His Son, and The Holy Spirit. Without that combination, we lose our "saltness." What is so very sad, we may actually be like Samson and not even realize the salt is gone. Judges 16:20 "And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him." (Emphasis mine.) In losing the "saltness," the peace we had inside us also becomes deluded and washes away as well. Oh, it may not happen all at one time. It may happen a little here and a little there. We get too busy to stop and seek our path and directions from The Lord. We find a day here and there that goes by without spending time in The Word. Then one day, we look back at the daily devotional we promised we would read or the ribbon marker in our Bible (“Now, where did I put that Bible?”), we find we are six weeks or six months behind schedule. Our walk with God is moment by moment, hour by hour, and day by day. It is not something we do only in a crisis. Be blessed in The Name above every name, Jesus! I know I am. Linda L Culbreth
