Bible Study:Christian Women & Pastors Wives, I am "Meet for The Master's Use, Part 3
Esther 2:9 "And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king's house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women." It seems obvious to me that a "fair, young virgin" who might become queen of a large and very wealthly empire such as King Ahasuerus had from India down to Ethiopia would have to learn a lot of things in a very short time. She would have to learn the rules of the court, the language spoken in the Sushan the palace, how to be "the hostess with the most-ess," the laws she had to follow (and the consequences of not doing, whether by omission or rebellion), and court protocol. Who else to guide the fair, young virgin except one who knew not only the path, but every stone on the path? How about seven instead of one? No doubt, these seven handmaidens were well versed and hand selected. They could not have been at "the bottom of their class." Not just any ol' handmaidens were chosen for their enormous job, but those "which were meet to be given her." Profitable for her. Profitable for the bigger picture - of the vast kingdom. No doubt, day in and day out, they worked in harmony to groom the future queen to be the best queen she could be. Am I "meet" for the assignment God has given me? Day in, day out? Be blessed in The Name above every name, Jesus! I know I am! Linda L Culbreth
